Hiatus!
UPDATE: For all your Silver Emulsion needs, visit us at SilverEmulsion.com
Hey everybody, you’re gonna hafta get your fix elsewhere for the next couple of weeks because Uncle Jasper and I are taking a brief hiatus. We will resume normal conditions on Jan. 10, with some slight modifications to the weekly schedule. Don’t worry, you’ll still see the reviews of trash alongside “quality” films that you’ve come to expect. Uncle Jasper will be posting less frequently, but we haven’t nailed down any specifics, so that’s all the info I can give you.
In the meantime, lest you think we’re just sitting around congratulating ourselves, I’ll be finishing up a redesign and hopefully will be re-launching the website in a bigger and better format in January. Goodbye WordPress hosting, hello self-hosted! This will allow for a lot of good thing to happen, which may or may not be visible to the end-user, but if nothing else, the theme will be easier on the eyes.
If you have any suggestions, throw ’em down here and perhaps I’ll incorporate them.
Looking forward to January, I’ll be starting to go through the Puppet Master series and alongside them I’ll be looking at the slightly more mainstream Toy Story series. I also hope to get out and see some new stuff like Black Swan and True Grit during this time, so hopefully I can bring you reviews of those when we return.
So until then, have a good last couple of weeks of 2010 and we’ll see you on the other side with more reviews. Have a good one!
Top stuff this year Will – have a good Xmas/new year!
Thanks Dan! I hope to make next year even better. Have a good holiday.
Throw Social Network on that list! If you havent already seen it, that is. And if you haven’t, oh man. Uniquely high quality hollywood movie. It’s a wonder how you missed the hype, if you haven’t seen it, that is. Uniquely high quality on all fronts.
I haven’t seen it. I didn’t necessarily miss the hype, I purposefully placed myself outside of it because I didn’t want to see a “Facebook” movie…and I thought the trailer was ridiculously laughable. But having said that, I’ve resigned myself to seeing it as I think I’d probably enjoy it if I let myself…which is why I’ve waited. So yes, it’s on the list.
I was initially turned off as well, but my bro won’t stop hyping the shit out of it. He even went as far as to call it this generation’s Great Gatsby, which definitely piqued my interest a little.
Still though, I’ll probably see it months from now, when the hype dies down a little. I have too many old horror movies and kung fu films to get through first.
Enjoy the time off guys đŸ™‚ Looking forward to the new Silver Emulsion!
Thanks Castor! I can’t wait to finish up the new site myself…hopefully it lives up to the hype.
Being able to watch a movie without having to belt out a review afterward is a great feeling!
I left a comment earlier but it’s in the spam bin.
I wonder why…in any case you’ve been successfully retrieved from the trash!
Thanks heaps to both you guys for all of your excellent, insightful, passionate, knowledgeable and witty reviews. Make sure you tell me when the new Silver Emulsion website goes up and where I can find it. Will – glad to hear you will be back in action next year. Jasper – I hope you don’t post too much less frequently, I may suffer withdrawl symptoms.
Merry xmas and ‘see’ you in the new year
Thanks so much for the kind and supportive words Meredith! Unfortunately real life is taking up more and more of my time as of late. I just took on an extra assignment at my job, making time for writing pretty scarce around here. Maybe if things settle down a bit I can eventually go back to my twice a week schedule, but it’s not looking likely in the coming months. I’ll still be posting here though, just in a toned-down capacity. I’ll most likely be bringing back my Clones of Bruce Lee film festival for another round this year. Plus I just dug through my late dad’s mammoth VHS collection and found some great 80s horror gems that I can’t wait to get into!
As for the new website, I’m just as excited as you are! Will has been working on it for months, and it’s looking great!
The clones of Bruce Lee is a good fun theme and I am glad you will give it another airing. When you do the 80s horror I will sool my friend Romaine onto your reviews – she loves horror movies. Good luck with your work assignment
